VET for NAI
Facilitating integration of newly arrived immigrants into
labour market through adapted vocational/ labour market
guidance
VET for NAI is a 30 months (Jan 2022-July 2024) project co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Commission. The Project aims to facilitate integration of newly arrived immigrants into the labour market through adapted vocational/ labour market guidance.
THE PROJECT
The ‘VET for NAI’ project aims to create tools for early and effective integration of newly arrived immigrants (NAI) into the labour market through integrated training, which targets to enhance the host country language as well as technical skills in their job field.
The project addresses the need to promote swift integration of NAIs into the labour market through strengthened cooperation and mobilization of employers and social and economic partners in each country. Collaborating partner countries are Sweden, Greece, Italy and France.
The project aims to create a Guidance Toolkit, that will provide NAIs with the complementary skills and competences (technical and linguistic), to enable them to better respond to the requirements of labour market needs in their new countries. This will increase their accessibility to European labour markets and will foster their inclusion into their host countries' societies.
The Guidance Toolkit will be based on empowering the NAIs, focusing on active choice on their entrance into the labour market.
The Toolkit will provide:

Advising and Support
The Toolkit will focus on career guidance to prepare NAIs to choose a career, by considering options such as technical or vocational training, entrepreneurship, education. It will provide information by motivating the individuals to make these discoveries themselves, taking into consideration the demands of the job market. The Toolkit will be integrated into host countries language training. The guidance material will be elaborated in a way that it can be used by language centers, employment services and NGOs providing integration services.

OBJECTIVES
The project aims at facilitating and fostering early and effective integration of newly arrived migrants into the labour market through adapted vocational/labour market guidance, which targets to enhance host country language, as well as networking with employers who will actively be engaged in project activities.
The project addresses the need to promote swift integration of newly arrived migrants into the labour market through strengthened cooperation and mobilization of employers and social and economic partners. They are today not given any guidance about the labour market, sectors in need of labour force and vocational guidance to enter those sectors. At the same time, many European countries face the challenge of labour needs and skills shortage in several sectors. This is a result of a labour market mismatch problem.
This project is designed to simultaneously address both challenges; the NAIs social inclusion and filling the gap between labour skills demand and employability opportunities. This will be done through the development of training materials as well as guidance for stakeholders in order guarantee a smooth and efficient integration of NAIs in European labour markets.PROJECT RESULTS
The key results expected from the project is to stimulate effective integration for newly arrived immigrants and refugees into the labour market by providing them with vocational/ labour market guidance specifically adapted for their needs, through the guidance staff they meet during their integration in the new host country.
